The proposal of Ecuador and its “four worlds” shone before the international tourist trade during the fortieth edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2019. From November 4th to 6th the main tourism products and destinations of the country were promoted to the British and international tourism trade and specialized media.
Cultural, gastronomic and artistic presentations accompanied the Ecuadorian delegation of representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, the Embassy of Ecuador in the United Kingdom, the Commercial Office of Ecuador in London and 23 Ecuadorian tourism co-exhibiting companies.
The thousands of visitors to the Ecuadorian stand at WTM London 2019 learned about the diversity of flavours, traditions, destinations, products and activities that Ecuador: the country of the four worlds” offers to its visitors.
Intense and exciting days were lived during the whole duration of this prestigious tourism fair. The Ecuadorian delegation received the 2020 Emerging Destination prize which was awarded by top bloggers around the world and that recognizes Ecuador as one of the new travel destinations as alternatives to the famous overtouristed sites. In addition, the Ecuadorian stand was visited by prominent authorities; among them, Simon Press, General Director of WTM London, who received a freshly painted canvas by the Ecuadorian artist Carlos Gualo, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the fair.
The iconic Ecuadorian toquilla straw hat looked elegant during the cultural activations on the fair; Ecuadorian folk music cheered the day to the beat of the Renacer group and the dance of the Association of Manabitas United in London; and the palates of the attendees were conquered by the exquisite flavors of chocolate and traditional Ecuadorian dishes such as baked pork and “encebollado.”
The companies that participated as co-exhibitors in the Ecuadorian stand together with the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador at WTM London 2019 were: Fundación Turismo para Cuenca, Quito Turismo, GAD Galapagos (Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal), Sacha Lodge, Adventure Journeys, Advantage Travel, Andean Travel Company, Ariel Travel, Ecuatraveling, Enchanted Expeditions, Galacruises, Galapagos Experience, Geo Reisen, Golden Galapagos Cruises, Haugan Cruises, Latin Trails, Latventure, Maritetour, Nemo Galapagos Cruises, Salmor & Outlet trips, Royal Galápagos, D&T Incoming Touristic Services by Summer Vacations and Tip Top Travel. They highlighted the participation of Ecuador and recognized it as an opportunity to expand their business and position the good image of Ecuador as a great international tourism destination.
Ecuador finishes its participation at WTM London 2019 with positive results: more than 30 business meetings and interviews with representatives of the international tourism trade; an average of 20 new contacts generated by each co- exhibiting company, 8 interviews with international media such as BBC, CNN, Eurosports, Financial Times, among others; and 3 presentations about Ecuador as a tourism destination and its star products.
The Ecuadorian participation during the WTM London 2019 is part of the strategic activities that the Government of Ecuador is promoting to consolidate Ecuador as a diverse, unique and excellent tourism destination.
